A crappy shopping experience at Terra Madre Health Food Store

Monday, 25 March 2013

Terra Madre is the new name for the health food store on High Street in Northcote. It's the store located near the Westgarth Cinema. I can’t remember what the store was called previously. It may have been Fruit Peddlars.

My wife and I shop there from time to time, especially to buy nut pastes that we can’t buy elsewhere. The prices in the shop vary from reasonable to outrageous.

So, I shopped at Terra Madre this morning, 25 March. Wanted to get some treats for my wife. And, wouldn’t you know it, I made the mistake of buying some gluten free Easter buns for my wife. I forgot she had told me how much she disliked the first batch of these buns we bought recently. The buns, by the way, cost $7.85 for 6. See what I mean by outrageous prices!

My wife was less than impressed with the buns. So, she decided to call the store to see if we could get a refund for them. Molly, the girl who had served me, answered my wife’s call. Then she argued with my wife. And hung up the phone on my wife! Big mistake, Molly! You should remember customer service lesson 101 – never argue with a customer. Especially those with on-line blogs!

So, I had to return the buns. No, I don’t live far away from the store. Yes, I got my $7.85 back. No questions asked. But, would I recommend this shop to others? No. It’s way too chaotic in there. Narrow aisles. No ques. Expensive prices. Just a shame I can’t get those Hazelnut pastes elsewhere.

Until next time …
